William H. Webb, Jr.

October 18, 1930 — February 2, 2021

William H. Webb, Jr., former Chief of the Federal Probation Office, U.S. District Court, Washington, DC, died February 2, 2021 of complications from Parkinson’s Disease according to his wife, Marion Munson Webb. Bill was born in Washington, DC on October 18, 2030, grew up in Bethesda, MD and graduated from Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School in 1949. Bill joined the Air Force and spent 2 years in Wiesbaden, Germany. Upon discharge from the service, he resumed his education graduating with a BA degree from American University in 1964 and a Masters Degree in Criminology from the University of Maryland in 1975. Bill worked for the Juvenile Court in Rockville, MD, the DC Department of Corrections then the US District Court’s Probation Office where he rose through the ranks. In retirement, Bill and Marion fished and cruised from Montauk NY to Chub Cay in the Berry Islands while living aboard their boat, the “Miss Chevy Chase”. Bill is preceeded in death by his father, William H. Webb, an attorney, his mother, Estelle H. Webb, a realtor and his brother, Wilmot H. Webb, PhD “Bea”, an aeronautical engineer. Bill is deeply missed by his wife Marion of 68 years, daughters Laurie W. Hailey of Leesburg, VA and Valerie W. Rice (Robert) of Naples, FL, his 3 grandsons, 4 great grandchildren; and nephew and niece. Remembrances may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s research. Services are private.
