William F. Stoddard, Jr.

On Saturday January 1, 2022 William (Bill) F. Stoddard Jr died peacefully at home. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sharon (Katzenberger), Daughter Theresa (Beth) {Eric Schindler}, son James (Jim) {Amy Gignac Stoddard}, and his three grandchildren Emma, Kenzie, and Cayden. Bill was a well-loved uncle, cousin, godfather, coach, and friend. Bill was born and raised in Brookland, N.E, D.C. He loved to tell stories of growing up in the District, playing ball at Turkey Thicket, and going to Washington Senators games. He was a proud Washingtonian. Bill joined the phone company at a young age and had an almost 40-year career. Bill prided himself on his career, his integrity, and the legacy he left behind. During his proud career he made many lifelong friends and had many stories to tell. Bill and Sharon were married 42 years. They chose to settle and raise their children in Greenbelt, MD. Bill loved the community of Greenbelt, coaching CYO baseball for St. Hugh’s, and volunteering on the board for the Greenbelt Credit Union and the Greenbelt Co-Op. The true joy of Bill’s life especially in his final years were his grandchildren. It was not uncommon to find one or all of them in the room with him watching Looney Tunes or other cartoons. Bill was a beloved friend and family member and will be missed.
