Suzanne Newcomb

July 7, 1943 — March 7, 2025

Suzanne Newcomb, 81, of Woodstock, Maryland, passed away peacefully on March 7th, 2025. Born on July 7th, 1943, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Gilbert and Evelyn Soul, Sue—was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and educator who touched the lives of many.

Sue was a loving spouse to her late husband, Roger, who preceded her in death in 1993. Together, they shared a life full of love, laughter, and adventure. She was the proud mother of two sons, Brian and Eric, and a cherished Grandma to seven grandchildren. Throughout her life, Sue embodied grace, kindness, and a servant’s heart, making a lasting impact on all who knew her.

A passionate and dedicated elementary school teacher at Glenelg Country School for over 30 years, Sue’s love for children was evident in her work and her commitment to nurturing young minds. Perhaps her most treasured role was that of Grandma Sue, a role in which she truly thrived, showering her grandchildren with boundless love, joy, and encouragement.

Following the loss of her husband, Sue found comfort and purpose in helping others, leading a widow support group that became a source of strength and community for many. Sue’s love of travel took her far and wide, from medical missions with her son Brian’s family, to travel adventures with close friends, and to multiple visits with Eric’s family in East Asia. She made lifelong friendships along the way, always embracing new experiences with a sense of adventure and an open heart.

Sue will be remembered for her unwavering love, generosity, and deep care for others. Whether she was sharing a meal with friends, playing cards, discussing a book at book club, or simply spending time with her grandchildren, Sue’s presence made everything brighter, and her legacy will live on in the countless lives she touched.
