Subbulakshmi Hejeebu

Subbulakshmi Hejeebu, 85, passed peacefully from this earth on October 14th, 2024 in the comfort of her own home, in Randallstown, MD, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was born April 14, 1939 in Andhra Pradesh, India, daughter to Satyanarayana and Venkayamma Pemmaraju. She and her husband of 30 years, the late Dakshinamurthy Hejeebu, came to the United States in 1965, raising their three children in the Baltimore area.

Subbulakshmi was an extraordinary mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, sister-in-law and friend. She delighted in meeting and helping people. Whether she was enjoying card games or the Ravens with her grandchildren or helping another immigrant family find their way in a new society, she lived generously and joyfully. She made friends easily and was active at the Pikesville Senior Center and the Randallstown YMCA. Her many hobbies included quilting, gardening, bridge, and water aerobics.

She is survived by daughter Surya Korn of Stevenson, MD, son Ananta Hejeebu of Ellicott City, MD, daughter Santhi Hejeebu of Iowa City, Iowa, daughter-in-law Stacia Hejeebu, son-in-law Sriram Pemmaraju, and her dearest grandchildren Jacob, Ela, Ben, Sam, Rohan, Pavan, and Grace, plus her dear pup Julia. She was deeply cherished by her brothers, sister, in-laws, nieces, and nephews, across the US and India.
