Shirley Jean Brawner

June 16, 1935 — April 11, 2024

Shirley Jean Brawner (Farcin), 88, of Hampden Maryland passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on April 11, 2024 at St. Joseph Medical Center. She was born on June 16, 1935 in West Virginia, daughter of the late Joseph and Juanita Farcin.


Shirley is survived by her husband of 59 years Charles Frederick Brawner Sr., her children Chuck Brawner, Melissa Kisner and her husband Matthew Kisner and her grandchildren Matthew Kisner and his wife Samantha, Brooks Brawner along with his mother Lisa Bennett, and Emily Kisner. In addition to her immediate family, she is survived by her siblings in West Virgina, Joseph Farcin and his wife Sandra, Allen Farcin and his wife Marlene, Phil Farcin and his wife Barbara, and Joyce Ward and her husband Guy. She is preceded in death by her brother Richard Farcin and his wife Nancy. She is survived by many nieces and nephews.


Shirley was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church and worked at St. Thomas Aquinas school for 30+ years. She was an active member of the community and liked to walk around Hampden and talk to everyone in her path. She loved to go to auctions with her husband and buy auction treasures for her grandchildren. She was a die-hard Ravens fan and enjoyed “Ravens talk” with her neighbor, Diane.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association.


Friends and family are invited to attend the Celebration of Life Mass at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 1008 West 37th Street, 21211 on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 10:00 am with a gathering immediately following at Frazier’s on the Avenue, 919 West 36th Street, 21211 from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm.
