Sharon Schaub passed away peacefully on March 31, 2025, under the care of AccentCare at Harbor Hospice. She was born on July 4, 1948, in Baltimore, MD, to the late John and Alice Smith. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Donald Smith and John Walter Smith, and is survived by her brothers, Edward "Eddie" Smith and Ernest "Ernie" Smith.
As the daughter of a Navy serviceman, Sharon grew up as a Navy brat, gaining life experiences in many places, including Key West. As the oldest of five children, she embraced a strong sense of responsibility for her family. She graduated from Glen Burnie High School in 1966 and later excelled in classes at CCBC.
For 55 years, Sharon made her home in Catonsville. Early in her career, she worked as a switchboard operator for the telephone company in Glen Burnie, where she quickly rose to a supervisory position. She married Donald Schaub (later divorcing) and devoted several years to raising their two daughters, Dianne and Darlene. In 1983, she resumed her professional career with the Social Security Administration, where she worked diligently for 35 years, retiring as a manager in 2018.
Sharon’s greatest joy in life was her family. Affectionately known as “Mimi,” she cherished time with her daughters, their husbands, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She is survived by Dianne and Tim Russell and their children: Chase, Chaney, and Channon Bettick; Kathleen Marte, Timothy Russell Jr., and Anna Russell; as well as great-grandchildren Jaxon and Jagger Marte; and Timothy Russell III. She is also survived by Darlene and John Rehmert and their children: Madison, Tyler, and Avery Rehmert.
Sharon created countless cherished memories through family vacations, trips with her children and grand-children, and special gatherings. From trips to Florida to visit her parents and brothers to magical adventures at Disney, Great Wolf Lodge, Hershey Park, Sesame Place, and various Florida beaches. Holidays at Mimi’s house were unforgettable, especially Christmas mornings! She was a loving and dedicated presence in the lives of her grandchildren and an unwavering source of love and support for her daughters. Her warmth, kindness, and devotion will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Honoring Sharon’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. Instead, close family will celebrate her life privately.
In lieu of flowers, Sharon requested that donations be made to plant a tree in her memory, a lasting tribute to her love for nature and family.
