Paul Gardner Heese

March 6, 1958 — December 21, 2020

Dr. Paul Gardner Heese, DDS, went to be with the Lord on December 21st, 2020. He was 62 years old and passed peacefully, surrounded by his two daughters and other family members. Born and raised in Baltimore MD, he lived in Hampton Beach NH the last 3 and a half years but returned to Baltimore recently. He is survived by daughters Robin Lynn and Allison Marie and their mother Lynn; his mother Nancy Warner Heese; sisters Cindy Heese and Judith Heese Cool (Jeff) and brother D. Bentley Heese (Lisa); nieces Hillary, Melissa, Emily (Matthew), Abigail, Caroline and nephew Campbell. He was predeceased by his father, best friend and mentor David William Heese, DDS. Paul was a loyal, devoted and loving son, father, brother, friend, and most of all a compassionate dentist. He followed in his father’s footsteps and practiced dentistry for 23 years, 15 of those spent with David. Both David and Paul were in their element as dentists and adeptly navigated the challenges of being father/son and running a family business. Paul grew up in Stoneleigh, graduated from Towson High in 1976, was a 1980 graduate from Boston University with a degree in Political Science and minors in Psychology and Sociology. He always spoke fondly of his time at Boston University and even had a capuchin monkey who was being trained as a service animal for quadriplegics briefly as a roommate. After a short career in road construction logistics, he returned to Towson University and got a degree in Biology and went on to pursue his dental degree at the University of MD in Baltimore city, graduating in 1988 with his DDS. Paul was enthusiastic in everything he experienced. He loved to learn, use his hands and to construct things. Paul had no strangers in his life, only friends he had not met. He loved people and all living creatures; he once tried to resuscitate a hamster and was the neighborhood pet manicurist. He loved to travel. In his younger days it was camping and hiking; later it was cruises and trips to Stone Harbor, New Jersey, his happy place. He had an adventurous spirit. Paul loved to tell a good story, and time experienced with family and friends. He would always make time for hospitality, good tobacco and had the rare gift of being able to take a quick nap virtually anywhere. Paul was a most genuine individual. No funeral or Memorial service has been planned yet, but we are hoping to gather in Fall of 2021 for a celebration of his life.
