Martha Foreman

Martha “Marty” Foreman (Reeder) died peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, September 24th in Ellicott City, MD at the age of 85. Marty is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, Garland Foreman and her children, Douglas Foreman (partner Michael), Diane Wilson (husband Michael), and David Foreman (wife Barbara). She is also survived by her grandchildren Colin Wilson (wife Katya), Shannon Wilson (husband Derek), Caitlin Sporik (husband Daniel), Benjamin Foreman (wife Emily), Joseph Foreman (wife Samantha), Seth Foreman (wife Nicole), Maria Foreman, and Nicholas Foreman. She is preceded in death by her parents, Catherine and Ernest Reeder, and brothers, Donald, William, and Ernest Jr. of Frederick, MD. Marty was born on June 3, 1936 in Frederick, MD. She graduated from Frederick High School in 1954. She married Garland “Gar” Foreman, her high school sweetheart, in 1955. In the succeeding years, they raised three children, Douglas, Diane, and David in Ellicott City, MD. For 25 years, Marty worked in the medical records department at Montgomery General Hospital in Olney, MD. Marty enjoyed needlepoint and crochet, reading, and playing cards. She was an active member of her Lutheran church community. Marty loved to travel and, upon her retirement, Marty and Gar travelled extensively. Cruising by ship with friends was one of her favorite ways to see and experience different parts of the world. Known as Nana to her eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, she was devoted to her family and enjoyed spending as much time with them as she could. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, especially her family. A service of remembrance is scheduled for First Evangelical Lutheran Church on Thursday, September 30th at 11:00 a.m. in Ellicott City.
