Martha Elizabeth Schiaffino

On May 12, 2020, Martha Schiaffino passed away peacefully in her sleep. She was 93 years old. Born on December 4, 1926 in Eagle Rock, California, Martha lived with her Uncle Fred and Aunt Martha, her namesake whom she called “Sis.” Martha’s mother died a few days after giving birth. Martha met Paul while he was a soldier in WWII. After 4 years of courtship and the end of the war in 1945, Paul went to California to marry Martha, pack her up, and move to Maryland. Martha was the mother of six children, making time for everyone and making each feel special. She always provided support and love for her family. She and Paul worked tirelessly to provide opportunities for their children. Martha’s greatest love was her family and enjoying many trips to Ocean City and family gatherings. All her children and grandchildren were proud to call her Mom and Mom-Mom. Martha made many good friends over the years and enjoyed many nights of card playing and bowling. Martha was preceded by her husband Paul of over 50 years. She is survived by her six children, Michael, Nelson, Diane, Susan, Paula, and Kathy; three sons-in-law, Stanley, Gene, John and James; grandchildren, Heather, Abby, Sarah, Matthew, Paul, Jocelyn, Josh, Carly, Charlie, and Robyn; and four great grandchildren, Niko, Bryce, Miller, and Isla. A “Celebration of Life” will be planned in a few months.
