Louis John Collins

Louis John Collins born February 23,1947 went to his final resting place with God on May 6, 2020. Lou was born and raised in Baltimore, MD and lived life to the fullest. He served his country in the Navy where he traveled throughout Europe. He loved people and easily made friends with everyone he met. A true intellect, Lou had a thirst for knowledge and a deep appreciation of history, his favorite topic being the Civil War era. Lou also enjoyed art, philosophy and music. He had a strong work ethic and enjoyed the simple things in life: Spending time with family and friends, a walk in nature, playing his guitar and reading a good book. He always stood up for what he believed in. An activist all of his life, most recently involved in the Maryland anti-fracking movement. Lou attended Forest Park High School, University of Maryland Baltimore County and Morgan State University. For many years he worked at the Koinonia/Gramercy Mansion in Baltimore County. Later in life he served as a docent at the Carroll Mansion in Baltimore City where he met his long term companion Catherine Mezensky. He was preceded in death by his parents Theresa Collins (Reinhardt) and Stephen Collins Sr, brother Joseph Collins and brother Stephen Collins Jr. Lou is survived by his children Jamaica Adams, Jessie Collins, Stephen Collins, sister Terry Richardt (Collins), brother John Collins as well as devoted companion Catherine Mezensky and many other extended family members and friends. A celebration of life will be held for Lou at a later date.
