Lois Isabelle Groth of Linthicum, Maryland (formerly of Ainsworth, Nebraska) passed away on April 7, 2022, at 6:43 AM. Later she and her parents and sisters lived 20 miles north of Ainsworth on a farm known as “The Old Galligan Place” named after her great grandfather. She was of the fourth generation to live in that home. Her grade school education, grade 1 through 8, was in a 1 room schoolhouses in Brown County, Nebraska. Her 7th and 8th grade education were in a schoolhouse near an area where her mother once attended school. Lois graduated from Ainsworth Highschool in May of 1943. She began her working life, as did many other Ainsworth graduates, at the Brown County Courthouse, in the offices of County Clerk and Treasurer. On January 1, 1944, she was employed at the Ainsworth Air Base of the then Army Air Corps where her 34 years of Federal Employment began. Lois had many hobbies and interests and was always busy. She loved to paint pictures and accomplished her goal of having her own paintings hung throughout her home. She loved to garden, wrote many poems, researched her ancestors, their history as pioneers and homesteaders in Nebraska. As a Bible student, her library overflowed with Bibles and Bible literature which she shared with others. Lois was concerned about the problems of others and tried to help in any way she could. She would often say, “I get too involved”. Mrs. Groth is survived by two sons, Steven Charles and Davis George, Sr.: two grandsons, Davis Groth, Jr., and Alexander Blane. She was preceded in death by her mother, Hester Anna who passed away November 27, 2003, at the age of 97, and her father, George William who died February 1, 1997, at the age of 96.
