In Loving Memory of Leonard David Boggs, Jr.

On February 27, 2025, Leonard David Boggs, Jr. was called home to be welcomed into the loving arms of our Lord and Savior, after a long and valiant fight with colon cancer. A resident of Silver Spring, Lenny was 53.

Lenny was born in July 1971 to Leonard David Boggs, Sr. and Karen Boggs (nee Taylor). Lenny grew up in the Munson Heights neighborhood of Severn, with many friends and family, including his younger sister, Michele Bik (nee Boggs). As a young man, Lenny enjoyed playing the guitar, kickball, camping, fishing, and working on cars. Lenny also was passionate about boating and billiards.

In 1989, Lenny graduated from Old Mill High School in Millersville.

After graduation, Lenny married Kelly Boggs (nee Shanks). The couple lived in Pasadena and raised two sons, Joshua and Nicholas. Though Lenny and Kelly divorced, they remained friends, supporting each other and caring for their sons. Recently, Lenny and Kelly relied upon each other for strength and encouragement during their respective battles with cancer.

Although Lenny is gone, he will live in our hearts and memories forever.

Lenny is preceded in joining the Lord by his father, Leonard David Boggs, Sr.

Lenny is survived by his mom, Karen Boggs; his uncles, Bob and Mark; his aunt, Theda; his sister, Michele Bik (and her husband, Peter); his former wife, Kelly Boggs; and, their two sons, Joshua (and his fiancée, Julianna) and Nicholas. Lenny held dear one niece, Rebecca, and three nephews - Ryan, Gabriel, and Matthew. Lenny also leaves behind several cousins and countless friends.

Until we see each other again… We love you, Lenny!

On Friday, May 2, 2025, a Celebration of Life will be held at the Grace Pointe Community Church of the Nazarene, located at 61 Gambrills Road, Severn, Maryland. The service will begin at 6:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions may be made to the Grace Pointe Community Church of the Nazarene - Give to Grace Pointe Community.
