Larry A. Lough

January 8, 1944 — October 8, 2022

“Is ‘Larry’ short for Lawrence?” was a common question throughout his life. The answer?

Following his birth, his mom was given a copy of the newspaper, where she read an article about

World War II hero, Larry Allen. And, as he would say, “There y’have it.”

Born to Pearl Margarite (McKenzie) and Hobert Lough on January 8, 1944, Larry spent the first

years of his active life in Flintstone, Maryland. During his elementary school years, Larry’s dad

took a job at Bethlehem Steel, and moved the family to Dundalk, Maryland. A graduate of

Dundalk High School, he earned a spot in the school’s Hall of Fame for his soccer and baseball

skills. Upon graduation from the Maryland Institute of Art and the University of Maryland, he

managed multi-million dollar commercial construction projects for several nationally recognized

corporations, and “his” buildings can still be seen throughout Maryland, DC, and Virginia.

An avid sportsman, Larry’s love for hunting, fishing, golf, softball, and more, was inherited by

his daughters and grandchildren, whose talents earned them numerous medals, awards, and

college scholarships. Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing him can testify to his dedication

to family. And, as everyone close to him can attest, Larry knew how to stretch a dollar!

Pre-deceased by his parents, Pearl and Hobe, Larry is survived by Loree, his wife of 50+ years;

daughters Elise Sisolak and Valerie Gordish; grandchildren Alexandra and Luke Fahnestock,

Samantha, Steven, and Warner Sisolak, Payton Gordish, Greg Arnold; great-grandchildren Joey

Finck and Grady Arnold; sister Sharon Batton, and brothers Steve and Tom Lough.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Larry’s request for donations in his name to the

NRA, 11250 Waples Mill Road, Fairfax, VA 22030.

Memorial service will take place on Wednesday October 26, 2022 from 10:00am to 12 noon at MacNabb Funeral Home, 301 Frederick Road, Catonsville, MD, 21228.
