On May1,2023, Larrietta Dale Ward passed away at home from complications of advanced Parkinson's disease. She is survived by Linda E. Hargrove, Lawrence F. and his wife, Jackie Ward, and predeceased by her brother, Dale L. Ward, parents Lawrence S. and Lilly D. Ward, and her beloved Maltese , Bailey.
Larrietta was born in Baltimore and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Ohio Northern University. She obtained her Master of Social Work from the University of Maryland School of Social Work and Community Planning in 1971. The majority of her career was divided between two agencies, the Methodist Board of Child Care and the Maryland School for the Blind, where she served as Supervisor of Social Work Services. She also served as a Field Instructor to senior Social Work majors through McDaniel College in Westminster, Maryland. Late in her career, she designed an innovative training program, incorporating audio and visual technology, to teach university and college Social Work students techniques of play therapy with blind and multiply handicapped students. A gifted child therapist, she positively impacted hundreds of children throughout her career. In her leisure time, Larrietta enjoyed researching her family's genealogy, watching nature from the backyard deck of her home in Baldwin, Maryland and spending time at her second home in Cape May, New Jersey.
