Kristin Joy Biles

Kristin Joy Biles was born on January 1, 1976, in Buffalo, New York. After a courageous struggle with anorexia, she died on July 19, 2019, with her parents, brother and sister-in-law at her side. KJ (Krissy) was the beloved daughter of Pastor Harry and Sharey Biles and the sister of Jeremy Biles and Yuki Miyamoto. She loved and was loved by many family members and friends. A graduate of Laurel High School, KJ attended York College and later became a licensed esthetician and make-up artist. She loved her work and often said that her goal was to help others feel better about themselves and to feel beautiful. Like her favorite actress, Lucille Ball, KJ was a natural entertainer—spontaneously funny and dramatic, with hairstyles and colors that showed her spirit. Rarely one to shy from the social limelight, she had a gift for making dramatic entrances, and to the delight of those around her, she had a way of being a mobile center of attention. She laughed often. Listening and singing along to many types of music gave her strength; she especially enjoyed karaoke, 80s hits, and Christmas music. KJ treasured childhood trips to Kalamazoo, and playing with the neighboring children on the street where she grew up in Laurel, Maryland. She loved the people of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Laurel and those she grew close to at Salem Lutheran Church. She was grateful for the affection and support she received from all those who cared for her. She had many cherished friends. She loved her family with all of her heart and often reminded them of that. KJ had a vast spirit. She will always be a joy. KJ’s faith remained strong. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 27, at 11 am. Visitation will begin there at 9:30 am. Inurnment will be held at a later date.
