John Harold Smith, Jr

John Harold Smith Jr. of Ellicott City, beloved husband of Anna Smith passed away on August 16, 2019 at the age of 91. He is survived by his wife Anna, sons Jay (Eileen), Brian (Sharon), and Dale (Faith) Smith, and grandchildren Jessica (Matt) Taguding, Douglas, Carolyn and Randall Smith. He is predeceased by his son Steven Smith, his parents John H. Smith Sr. and Alice Smith, and siblings Gene, Leone, Muriel, Wanda, and Odette. John worked as a service manager for a local Ford dealer and retired after 34 years as a claims adjuster for Allstate Insurance. In retirement, John loved working on his vintage cars and helping family and friends. He resided in Ellicott City for 64 years in the home he hand-built with Anna. John served in the Maryland National Guard from 1948 to 1955, achieving the rank of Sergeant First Class. The family will receive friends 1 – 3 p.m. & 6 – 8 p.m., Tuesday at the MacNABB FUNERAL HOME P.A., 301 Frederick Road (Beltway Exit 13), Catonsville (21228), with a Funeral Service celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday. Interment services to follow at the Crestlawn Memorial Gardens in Marriottsville.
