John Burton Messing, Jr.

John Burton Messing Jr., 57, of Elkton, Maryland, passed away on Sunday December 3rd, 2023.

John was born on January 23rd, 1966 to John and Nellie Messing in Wilmington, Delaware.

He found a passion early on in life for working with machinery, and went on to have a career in the industry. He worked in construction for 10 years and was dedicated to his career as a heavy machine operator.

He was an avid gamer and he loved time shared with family and friends.

He will be remembered for his sense of humor, collection of hot sauces, but most importantly how much he loved his grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his father, John B. Messing Sr.

He is survived by his loving mother, Nellie French Messing, Earleville, MD; children, John B. Messing III (Melissa), Daniel K. Messing (Michelle), Kortnei L. Messing, all of Elkton, MD, and Cody Pierce, Lewes, DE; siblings, Kurt Messing, Baltimore, MD,  Jonel M. Brown (Robert, Jr.), Earleville, MD, and Brian K. Messing (Dawn), Port Deposit, MD; and 10 grandchildren.

Services will be held privately at the family’s discretion.

In honor of his memory, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
