Dear father of Ean Mc Naney and his mother Diane Huey, brother of Mary Jo Burkot and her husband Sid, the late Patricia A. Scheiner and her living husband Wayne A. John was born on October 8, 1948. After graduating from high school, John bravely volunteered to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Marine Corps in 1967. John was an honored Vietnam veteran who was wounded in combat during the battle of Hue in 1968. Upon returning home, he spent several months recuperating at Bethesda Naval Hospital, where he was awarded a purple heart for his combat injuries. His love for the game of golf was his life. Overcoming his injuries from the war, John became a professional golfer, competing in many prestigious PGA and US Open tournaments throughout his career. As a young teenager, John spent much of his time at Rolling Road Country Club as a local caddie, learning everything about the game he loved. He later became a golf instructor and enjoyed sharing his expertise with others. John was also a creative poet and a free-spirited soul. He was the type of person that would drop everything if someone he cared about needed help. An internment service will be held at Baltimore National Cemetery 11AM on Friday, March 25.
