Georgette

Our beloved Marie Irene Georgette Marcoux, 88, of Rockville, Maryland, passed away on Saturday, December 3rd, 2022. She was predeceased by her loving husband Jean-Guy Marcoux.

Georgette, as she was known, was born in September 1934 in Villeroy, a small village of Quebec, Canada by her parents Rachel Lafond and Rosaire Mercier. She was one of four siblings, her brothers Germain and Andre have since passed and is survived by her sister Jeannine Mercier of Florida.

Georgette was an adventurer, so in the 1960s, she and Jean-Guy left the cold, country and farm life of Laurierville, Quebec and emigrated to the United States were they resided in Maryland for over 50 years. She loved to travel and spent her weekends and time off often at her 2nd home in southern Maryland or visiting family in Canada and Florida.

Georgette loved children, so it was natural that she took up work in the school system serving in the cafeteria of Rosemont Elementary for over 20 years. She so enjoyed seeing all of kids smiling faces everyday for breakfast and lunch.

She is survived by her son Joseph Gilbert Marcoux, and grandchildren whom she help raise Jake Marcoux, Georgia Marcoux and Joshua Marcoux.

Georgette will forever be remembered as someone who loved her family greatly, always thought of others before herself, and as person who gave, gave, and gave some more.

A service will be held in her honor on Monday, December 12th at St. Marys church in Rockville, Maryland where she was a member and regular parishioner for over 40 years.
