Frank Pontello passed over to a brighter kingdom on December 27, 2020, at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, after losing his fight against COVID-19. Frank was born June 17, 1944 in Washington, DC. He was devoted to his parents, Amadeo and Mae Rita Pontello, throughout their lives. He attended Leonard Hall Naval Academy, Leonardtown, MD, during his elementary and middle school years. High school was completed at Woodward Prep School for Boys in Washington, DC. Mr. Pontello then moved to Italy, where he learned to speak, read and write the language fluently, to attend the Accademia delle Belle Arti in Florence, where he was able to indulge his artistic skill, and then the Instituto di Enrico Fermi in Rome, where obtained his college degree. He then returned to the US and attended Carnegie-Mellon University for mechanical engineering. He enjoyed corresponding with his many relatives and friends in Italy over the years. Frank is survived by his wife, Patricia (Trish) Pontello, daughter and son-in-law Nichole (Nikki) and Sean Pozaro, son Gregory Pontello, and granddaughter Ava Pozaro. Out of caution and respect for the health of those we love and care for, no services will be held at this time. A gathering for family and friends to celebrate Frank’s life will be held in Spring/Summer 2021. The family requests that memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association or the American Lung Association.
