Ernest Percy Fortson, Jr.

On Wednesday, March 31, 2021, Ernest Percy Fortson, Jr. loving husband and father of two, passed away at age 73. Ernest had a passion for all things numbers-related, sci-fi, and sports. He enjoyed bowling and belonged to several leagues over the years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and took great pride in being a Morgan State University Alumnus. He also enjoyed cruising the Caribbean, going to casinos, playing card games, keeping in touch with friends and family on his computer and playing online chess, solitaire, and other card games. He was known for his infectious smile, ready laugh, kindness, and generosity. Ernest was born on October 29, 1947 in Baltimore, MD to Vivian Gant and Ernest P. Fortson. He received his degree from Morgan State University and worked in chemical engineering with W. R. Grace until his retirement in 2003. He was preceded in death by his wife, Angela Broy Fortson in 2001. He is survived by his wife Eunice Melvin Fortson, his two daughters, Melissa Broy Fortson and Temple Lloyd-Roberts, his son-in-law William, Eunice’s children Michael, Taja, and Adrian, his brother Edward Perkins, his sister Deborah Fortson-Wright and her husband Larry, as well as his many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and loving extended family.
