Cynthia A. Folks, daughter of the late Earl Thomas and Elizabeth Folks was born September 9, 1954 in Baltimore, Maryland. Cynthia transitioned after a lengthy illness on November 21, 2019 at University of Maryland Hospital. She received her education in the Baltimore City Public Schools and graduated from Edmondson Senior High School. She continued her education at Coppin State College (now University) and earned her Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice. Cynthia , affectionally known as “heavy” was a very pleasant and caring person. At an early age Cynthia received Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior and was baptized at the First Apostolic Faith Church under the leadership of the late Bishop Winfield A. Showell. Cynthia worked for the Department of Social Security for many years. She was preceded in death by her elder brother, Earl Thomas Folks, Jr. She never married or had children. Cynthia was a constant source of positivity as a loving sister, aunt and friend; she devoted her life to her family, and would go above and beyond to help those in need. Cynthia leaves to cherish her memory, brothers Dwayne Folks, Gregory (Edi) Folks (Rev. Elaine Folks) of Charlestown, South Carolina, Bishop Victore’ Folks (Dr.Denise L.Folks) two nieces, Terrie Gilmore and Melanie Pitts, a host of cousins and friends. She requested to be cremated. A memorial service will be held in December, 2019.
