Christopher James Haerbig

August 4, 1961 — December 15, 2021

Christopher James Haerbig was a caring husband, dad, brother and friend. He died at home on December 15, 2021 at the age of 60, after a heroic battle with cancer. He was born on August 4, 1961 to Marvin and Bernice Haerbig in South Bend, Indiana. Later, he was loved by his step father, L. Franklin Robertson and family. He is survived by his wife, Tracy Wade and two sons by a prior marriage, Matthew and Nathan. He provided foster care for many children and adopted a daughter, Brenda Mwaura, whom he loved as his own. She has two children, Malachi and Jazmyne Mwaura. He is survived by his brother, Steven Haerbig and sons Tory and Scott (Barbara) and their children, Taylor and Katie; and his sister, Jill Krohn and her children, Mindy (Terry) Boyd and Hank (Sarah) Krohn and their children, Otto and Gus. He leaves his Aunt Beverly Dahl and family. Chris was raised in Crofton, MD, graduated from Archbishop Spalding High School in Severn, MD and attended the University of Maryland, College Park. He then resided in Sykesville, MD, where he was an energetic and beloved football and wrestling coach for several years. His patience and care for the kids and assistants were always his top priority. He was employed by Vulcraft and CanAm, where he was a steel sales manager. Many of his customers became lifelong friends. He found the love of his life, Tracy Wade in 2018. They designed their dream home on the water in Pasadena, MD. An avid fly fisherman, Chris traveled to many streams and especially enjoyed those in Montana. Music was a constant theme. He loved attending concerts of all types, but never missed a Richmond Folk Music Festival. He was frequently found on the dance floor grabbing a family member or friend to insure everyone had a spin. His most favorite dance partner was his sweetie, Tracy. Visitors may call on Tuesday, December 21 from 6-8pm at McNabb Funeral Home, 301 Frederick Rd, Catonsville, MD 21228. His funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, December 22 at 1pm at Our Lady of the Fields, 1070 Cecil Ave., Millersville, MD with interment in the church cemetery.
