Casimir Martin Zacharski, Jr.

October 12, 1921 — September 9, 2022

After a brief illness, Casimir Martin Zacharski, Jr., age 100, passed away on September 9, 2022. He is survived by his loving wife, Juta Vaska Zacharski, his nephews Paul and David, niece Maryann Zacharski, and sister-in-law Rosemary Zacharski.

A life-long resident of Baltimore, Casimir grew up in the local Polish-American community, his pride and appreciation of his Polish heritage and language remained with him his entire life. He graduated from the renowned City College high school, Loyola College (now Loyola University) and the University of Maryland Law School. He served his country honorably during World War II in India and the Philippines as a US Army Signal Corps officer. He had an outstanding career at the highly respected law firm of O’Connor and Sweeny, where he became a partner. Casimir was also a devout Catholic and was a constant positive influence on his congregation.


He was also a key member of the Baltimore Estonian community and dedicated much of his free time to pro-bono legal work for both individuals as well as Estonian civic and cultural organizations. He loved the Orioles, played violin, was forever curious about the world and was always ready to lend a hand to those in need. He will be dearly missed.


The visitation will be at 10:30 AM on Friday September 16th followed by an 11 AM funeral mass at Lady of the Angels Chapel, Charlestown Retirement Community. Interment will follow at 1 PM, Parkwood Cemetery, 3310 Taylor Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21234.
