Benjamin Daniel Gerres

Benjamin ‘Ben’ Daniel Gerres, age 25, passed away in his Baltimore City apartment in June 2021. Ben is survived by his mother, Evelyn Gerres, his grandmother, Carol Wieser, his brother and sister-in-law, Jason & Heather Gerres, his sisters Clara & Amelia Gerres, his nieces Shaniya Gerres & Shai’Ana Whichard, his nephews Amere Cleveland, Sha’Miere Gerres, Sha’Kai Whichard, & Shayden Whichard, uncles, aunts & cousins. Ben is preceded in death by his father, Jay Byron Gerres and his grandparents, Daniel and Diana Gerres & Rudolph Wieser. Ben was a very hard-worker who took pride in his work ethic and the reputation he built for going above and beyond. From a very young age, he loved to work with his hands, and always seemed skilled at building or fixing just about anything – just like his dad! He received 3 certifications from the National Institute of Metal Working Skills through Fayette County's Career and Technical Institute when he graduated. Ben began working as a machine operator at Tenax Corporation in February 2020 where he continued to work until June. Prior to 2020, he worked as a machine operator for similar companies throughout Maryland. Although he enjoyed his line of work, Ben’s career aspirations began changing in the months before his passing. He wanted to pursue steps toward becoming an addictions counselor or mentor. He was grateful for and enjoyed the opportunities he had to share his story with others in the hopes that he could help others, especially his peers in recovery from addictions. Ben was such a bright and loving person who could make any body laugh or make any awkward situation funny! He had a huge personality, and he never gave up on anything. We pray that he rests peacefully today with his loved ones who preceded him. Ben will forever be loved, missed & remembered.
